The Leopold String Trio, one of the world’s leading chamber music ensembles, is delighted to announce that the renowned violinist Isabelle van Keulen will be joining the group. This follows the ensemble’s former and founding violinist Marianne Thorsen’s decision to leave the group to concentrate on other aspects of her career, including leading the Nash Ensemble of London, many solo engagements and Professorships both at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Department of Music at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim.

The Trio’s other members Lawrence Power (viola) and Kate Gould (cello) are very excited by the opportunity of working with Isabelle van Keulen, widely regarded as one of the most sought after and charismatic musicians of her generation with an already formidable reputation both as a soloist and chamber musician. This change comes half way through the trio’s highly successful and innovative series of 12 concerts, “The Series”, being presented at London’s Wigmore Hall and the Turner Sims Concert Hall in Southampton. The Series was made possible after an award from the Borletti-Buitoni Trust and was itself a major contributing factor to the group being awarded the 2005 Royal Philharmonic Society’s Chamber Ensemble Award. The inevitable fresh input of ideas from a musician such as Isabelle van Keulen will ensure the group continues to develop and grow through the rest of The Series and beyond.
