Fondazione Perugia Musica Classica - Community

Musica come Dono
(Music as a Gift)

This long-established music foundation in Umbria was founded in 1937 to promote classical music concerts of Sagra Musicale Umbra and then Amici della Musica in 1947. Since 2003 it has been developing various music programmes and activities for the wider communities around Perugia who cannot attend concerts for reasons such as disability and isolation.

The BBT Communities grant will support Musica Come Dono which will reach approximately 1350 people over the course of one year. Players from the Perugia Chamber Orchestra will include actors, narrators and singers in their programmes of concerts and workshops in places such as residential homes for the elderly and cognitive-impaired, prisons and hospitals, as well as for young people and underprivileged suburban communities who do not have access to classical music through education or in their neighbourhoods generally.

IMPACT

BBT Communities funding has been fundamental in enabling Fondazione Perugia Musica Classica to widen its scope and increase its outreach both to underprivileged members of society and potentially new generations of music lovers.
