Hana Chang - About

In the same year as her BBT Fellowship, American violinist Hana Chang was also nominated as one of Classic FM’s Rising Stars for 2024 as a result of her “impeccable, authentic, and gracious playing”. With a slew of prestigious prizes and awards, Hana is an ardent chamber music collaborator and performer. She continues her studies with Christian Tetzlaff at the Kronberg Academy along with continued mentoring by her former teachers Ida Kavafian and Janine Jansen.  Hana was chosen as one of a stellar ensemble of soloists (including fellow BBT artists Jonathan Leibowitz, Timothy Ridout, James Baillieu and Sini Simonen of the Castalian String Quartet) to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Young Concert Artists Trust (YCAT) in 2024 with a tour of major concert venues in Europe. As a young musician on the roster of YCAT she also benefits from its association with America’s Concert Artists Guild which opens doors to her in the US too.

Hana has used her BBT funding to create her first website, and future plans include the purchasing a new bow and the co-commissioning of a new violin concerto over the next years.

Hana has been supported with a BBT Fellowship since 2024.
