Andrew Kennedy studied at King’s College, Cambridge and the Royal College of Music in London. He was a member of the Young Artists Programme at Covent Garden and a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist. He received a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award in 2006. Highlights in his operatic career include Tamino The Magic Flute (English National Opera); Jacquino Fidelio (Glyndebourne Festival); Tom Rakewell The Rake’s Progress (La Scala, La Monnaie and Opéra de Lyon); Vere Billy Budd and Peter Quint The Turn of the Screw (Houston Grand Opera); Tito La Clemenzo di Tito (Opéra de Lyon); Count Almaviva Il barbiere di Siviglia (Welsh National Opera); Ferrando Cosi fan Tutte (Turin). In concert Andrew’s appearances include Mozart Requiem (LSO & LPO); Finzi Intimations of Immortality (BBCSO); Mozart Mass in C Minor (Hallé Orchestra; St. Matthew Passion (Netherlands Philharmonic); Elgar Spirit of England at the 2007 Last Night of the BBC Proms; Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings (CBSO, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra/BBC National Orchestra of Wales and at the BBC Proms); Les Illuminations (Edinburgh Festival/Scottish Ensemble and with the Orchestre de Picardie); Nocturne (BBC National Orchestra of Wales); Messiah (Tonhalle Zürich). Equally passionate about song repertoire, Andrew gives numerous recitals in Europe and the UK and appears regularly with the pianists Julius Drake, Roger Vignoles, Simon Lepper, Iain Burnside and Malcolm Martineau. In the 2012/13 season Andrew will sing Beethoven Symphony 9 (Philharmonia Orchestra); Bliss The Beatitudes (BBC Philharmonic); Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings (Helsinki Philharmonic); Carmina Burana (LPO); Messiah (Opéra de Lyon); Barber of Seville (English National Opera); Quint Turn of the Screw (LSO); and Tamino Die Zauberflöte (Toulon).

Following earlier successes the BB Trust is enabling me to sustain a high level profile by funding and promoting two CD recordings that I hope will introduce a large audience to my love of singing and the sort of repertoire that I hope to continue exploring throughout my career. Such financial support alongside effective marketing and publicity and the collective experience of the BB Trust board cannot be quantified and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to continue making music to the very highest standard.
