Andreas Brantelid - About

It is a great honour for me to receive a BBT Fellowship, and it really encourages me to continue my musical development. I am especially grateful because the Trust not only cares about the musical career, but also takes interest in my personal development. The Trust also allowed me to study with experienced great musicians and to play a recital in the Wigmore Hall, which opened a lot of new doors to me. In that way the Trust changed my life, and for that I will always be thankful!

Andreas Brantelid (2009)

Born in Denmark, Andreas Brantelid has become one of Scandinavia’s most sought-after musicians, winning worldwide critical acclaim to make the music not only sound, but speak, dance and sing: “He clearly lives the music with every fibre of his being, taking inspiration at times from his accompanists, following an attentive conductor, or proving himself a wonderful companion in music” (Bachtrack). As well as performing in the world’s most prestigious concert halls with leading orchestras, Andreas also dedicates a good deal of his time to chamber music. He teaches at the Danish Royal Academy of Music.

In the early years of his career, BBT was able to not only help with practicalities such as new publicity photographs and instrument insurance, but also support his debut recital at London’s Wigmore Hall with pianist Bengt Forsberg, one of his early mentors and longtime chamber music colleagues.

Andreas was supported with a BBT Fellowship between 2008 and 2011.
