Borletti-Buitoni Trust
Belgian clarinettist and former BBC New Generation Artist, Annelien Van Wauwe is renowned for her performances on both modern and period clarinets.

From an early age, she has won numerous international competitions. Her joint first prize award at the 61st International ARD Music Competition in Munich, in 2012, was a decisive step towards international recognition.

Since then, Annelien has performed with many leading orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the SWR Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart, the Deutsches Symfonie-Orchester Berlin, Brussels Philharmonic, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the BBC Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras.

Annelien has made regular appearances at major European venues, including the Tonhalle Zürich, Bozar Brussels, the Philharmonie Berlin, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Konzerthaus Vienna, London's Wigmore Hall and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam.

Annelien has a strong affinity for contemporary music and regularly premieres new pieces. Manfred Trojahn's Sonata V was premiered in 2017 for BBCRadio3. In the same year she made her BBC Prom's debut at the Royal Albert Hall.

Her CD of clarinet sonatas by Weinberg and Prokofiev was released on the Genuin label in 2015.

Annelien originally studied - amongst others - with Sabine Meyer who invited her to play a tour with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra. She also participated in master classes with Yehuda Gilad and studied period music with Eric Hoeprich and Ernst Schlader.  Annelien Van Wauwe herself is now a principal teacher at the Royal Conservatory Antwerp.
