We recently heard Joshua Hopkins at this year's Verbier Festival sing part of Vaughan Williams' 'Songs of Travel', accompanied (superbly) by Simon Lepper. It was the most beautiful performance we have ever heard of this work. The sensitivity of interpretation, control of dynamics and perfect diction (we heard every word from the back of a building with unforgiving accoustics) combined to move us, and those we were with, near to tears.
