If there is one key quality a young quartet needs in order to grow and develop, it is trust and confidence in the ability to discover its identity. With the Borletti Buitoni family, we learnt that Trust is not just a word, but a real tangible support on so many levels. We received this award without needing to apply or convince anyone of our total commitment to the project and since then the trust in our work has helped us make real what was just a dream before.

BBT Special Chamber Music Prize In Honour of Claudio Abbado

Quartetto Lyskamm was founded at the Milan Conservatoire in 2008.

Since 2014 Quartetto Lyskamm’ s success have included both second prize and the ProQuartet special prize at the international competition Franz Schubert und die Musik der Moderne in Graz, the Jeunesse Musicale Deutschland prize at the International Chamber Music Campus in Weikersheim, the Possehl Stiftung award and the Vittorio Rimbotti award of the European Chamber
Music Academy and, in 2017, first prize at the Gianni Bergamo Classic Music Award in Lugano.

The Quartet has performed for the Società del Quartetto of Milano, the Mito Festival, Rheingau Musik Festival, the Brahms Festival in Luebeck, the Unione Musicale and the Lingotto Musica of Turin, the Amici della Musica of Florence, Musica Insieme Bologna. It is currently quartet in residence at the Padua’s Amici della Musica.   Recent collaborators have included fellow Italian musicians such as cellist Mario Brunello, percussionist Simone Rubino and pianists Gabriele Carcano and Alessandro Taverna.

Quartetto Lyskamm has been supported by Cidim (Comitato Nazionale Italiano Musica) and by the Ad Infinitum Foundation. In January 2016, the Quartet was guest artist at Aldeburgh Music in Suffolk, England and were awarded a Borletti-Buitoni Trust special chamber music award in honour of Claudio Abbado.
 
From 2009 to 2011, the Quartet was mentored by the Artemis Quartet, before joining the European Chamber Music Academy circuit, benefitting from such teachers such as Hatto Beyerle, Johannes Meissl, Ferenc Rados, Claus Christian Schuster. Currently, the Quartet is studying with Heime Mueller at the Musikhochschule Luebeck.

Quartetto Lyskamm is currently, for three seasons, ‘artist in residence’ at the Amici della Musica of Florence, collaborating every year with a different young composer.

These three recordings from Quartetto Lyskamm, winners of BBT Special Chamber Music Prize in honour of Claudio Abbado 2016, encompass a century of Viennese music, from Beethoven’s early Op 18 No 5 Quartet, via Schubert’s concentrated drama in his Quartettsatz (Quartet No 12, D 703) to Webern’s exquisite, blink-and-you’ll-miss-them, Six Bagatelles.
