Borletti-Buitoni Trust

The Borletti-Buitoni Trust are a bit like a second family in giving advice and guidance to me as a developing artist. They have been so helpful in shepherding me and working to achieve my chosen project and have done so with great personal care and professional experience. Two straight-talking, hard-working Aussies collaborate. This film is an up-front depiction of the intensity and amount of hard work and preparation that goes into not just making a CD, but also giving a performance of ease and grace and building an entire musical career. Celebrated conductor Richard Bonynge is frank about what it takes to be a bel canto singer, while fellow Australian, soprano Elena Xanthoudakis, is both undaunted and utterly captivated by the bel canto repertoire. The CD, released on Signum Classics in March 2014, includes arias by Bellini, Donizetti, Rossini and Verdi. Filmed by Graham Johnston for Borletti-Buitoni Trust, with Royal Northern Sinfonia at The Sage Gateshead.
