Berlin born violinist Jermolaj Albiker was given his first violin lessons at the age of six and presently he is studying with Rainer Kussmaul at the University of Music in Freiburg. He has received additional artistic guidance in master courses with Lewis Kaplan, András Schiff, Christian Tetzlaff, Guy Braunstein, Tabea Zimmermann and Thomas Brandis. He has performed with many renowned orchestras, such as the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, North German Philharmonic Rostock, Helsinki Phiharmonic Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Prague Symphony Orchestra as well as the Polish Chamber Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestra in Detmold. He is dedicated to playing chamber music and has performed at the Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Ludwigsburg Castle and the Spannungen Heimbach festivals. He has performed with many international musicians such as Lars Vogt, Gustav Rivinius, Steven Isserlis, Tatjana Masurenko, Baiba Skride, Lilya Zilberstein, Hartmuth Rohde and Isabelle Faust. Despite his youth, Jermolaj Albiker has received many prizes and awards, including the German Music Competition 2003. Moreover, he received the young musician’s prize at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival as well as the awards voted for by the audience at the 2002 Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and the Mecklenburg Festival. As a reward for having won first prize of the tenth competition of the German Foundation for Musical Instruments, he was given a violin built by Antonius Stradivarius, Cremona 1703, now belonging to the federal state. At the moment he plays an instrument by S. P. Greiner loaned to him by the Dahms family of Cologne.
